The College of Charleston knows that the cost of a college education dominates most family budgets. It is crucial for parents and students to be aware of the federal, state, local, and institutional resources available to help them cover those costs.

Loans are borrowings that need interest payments to be made. Graduate, undergraduate, and parent students can all apply for federal loans.
Federal government and commercial sources both offer loans, while the terms of government loans are typically better. Do your research; a lot of these loans permit deferring or delaying payments until after graduation.
Undergraduate students with financial need may be eligible for subsidised loans.
The U.S. Department of Education covers the interest on a Subsidized Loan while you’re enrolled at least half-time, for the first six months after you graduate (known as a grace period), and during a period of deferment.

The College of Charleston will see that a student receives the proper Pell Grant for full-time enrollment once they have fulfilled all the requirements (12 hours or more).
They created the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program to help undergraduate students who are in exceptional need pay for their postsecondary education.
Congress established the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007.
They offer grants of up to $4,000 annually (currently $3,736 because of sequestration) to students who want to become teachers in public or private elementary or secondary schools that cater to students from low-income families.

College of Charleston Tuition Work Study
Students pursuing degrees who are in financial need have the chance to work part-time through the Federal Work Study (FWS) program in order to pay for their education.
Financial aid applicants who get FWS awards may work for several allowed off-campus employers and departments on the College of Charleston campus.
A degree-seeking student must submit the FAFSA by the College of Charleston’s priority deadline of March 1 in order to be eligible for FWS.
They must also meet all other federal requirements, such as verification, on time. The College requires that students submit a FWS request in order to be awarded FWS funds because there are a finite number of FWS funds available.
