University of Maryland Tuition Work Study

The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program offers students the chance to work while earning money to cover their living and educational costs. The FWS program does not require repayment of funds received.

To be eligible for FWS, students must submit their completed FAFSA by the January 1 priority deadline. Pay rates will at least be the federal minimum wage and will vary depending on the complexity of the position.

FWS staff members get paid biweekly for the hours they put in, just like any other university employee.

Most FWS employment is on campus, but there are occasions for FWS students to work off campus at other Federal Government Agencies through the Community Service Program.

They only permitted students to work a maximum of 20 hours per week while classes are in session and 40 hours per week during breaks and the summer.

University of Maryland Tuition Grant

The Office of Student Financial Aid manages many grant programs for the University of Maryland (UMD) students.

Based on the data supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, they offer grants to those in need (FAFSA). Grants are not subject to repayment.

Financial aid from different sources may be added to the “base” of financial aid provided by the federal Pell Grant.

Federal Pell Grants are only available to undergraduate students who are pursuing their first bachelor’s degree and who can prove that they have exceptional financial needs.

Regardless of when their FAFSA was submitted with all required information, all undergraduate students will be eligible for this grant.

The UMD award is available to full-time undergraduate Maryland residents who can prove they have a need for money.

To be eligible, students must submit their completed FAFSA by the January 1 priority deadline. Based on the availability of cash and the applicants’ qualifications, they choose recipients for this offer.

University of Maryland Tuition Loan

Loans are sums of money that must be repaid after graduation. Terms of federal loans vary according to financial need. The basis for private loans is not need.

The Federal Direct Loan program is a low-interest-rate loan, based on financial need for students who attend college at least half-time and there are two types of direct loans.

The Direct Subsidized Loan is available to students who can prove they have a need for it and has no interest as long as it enrolled them at least half-time in a program leading to a degree.

For students who cannot or do not sufficiently show the financial need to qualify for a full Direct Subsidized Loan, the Direct Unsubsidized Loan is an interest-bearing loan. Students pay for the interest accumulated on the loan borrowed.
