Tuition and Cost
The cost of attendance (COA) is an estimate of what the average student pays to attend UT. Your tuition and basic living expenses, including as housing and board, books, and supplies, transportation and travel fees, and personal expenditures, are all covered by your COA.
They also used your letter of acceptance to generate your financial assistance package. Depending on federal/state laws and requirements, minor changes to this estimate may or may not result in aid revisions. UT and other resources may grant financial help up to your total COA, but not over that amount.

UT Austin Tuition Financial Aid
We want to make sure you have the cost and help information you need to make your UT education a reality, whether you’re a prospective student or a recent graduate. Forms of financial aid include:
1. UT Austin Tuition Grants
Grants are non-repayable forms of need-based financial assistance. The information you enter on your FAFSA determines your eligibility. Federal and state governments, as well as UT, make grants available.
A. Federal Grant
1. Undergraduate students with serious financial need are eligible for the federal Pell Grant. Congress determines eligibility and yearly amounts, which might alter from year to year.
2. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program: Given to undergraduate students who have the highest financial need; supplements the Federal Pell Grant.

C. Grants from UT
Undergraduate in-state students with financial need are eligible for several grants from UT. To be considered for these institutional funds, you must submit your FAFSA every year.

2. UT Austin Tuition Scholarships
Scholarships are non-repayable forms of financial assistance. They provided some scholarships based on financial need, while others are merit-based, meaning we award them based on academic accomplishment or involvement in extracurricular activities.
3. UT Austin Tuition Loans
Loans are a type of financial help that must be repaid after you graduate from UT with interest. The amount of money you can borrow is determined by many criteria, including your academic year. The federal and state governments, as well as private lenders make loans available.
4. Fellowships and Teaching Assistantships
Teaching assistantships and fellowships are a type of financial help that might reduce the amount of money you get from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

It is your responsibility to find an approved employment once they have awarded your Work-Study as part of your financial help package. Employment possibilities are available both on and off campus; however, the position must be classed as Work-Study.
Financial Aid Eligibility
1. Most financial assistance applicants must be US citizens, permanent residents, or qualifying non-US citizens.)
2. If you are a guy between the ages of 18 and 25, you must register with Selective Service.
3. A degree-seeking student must be enrolled or accepted for enrolment.
4. At least half-time enrollment is required (for most financial aid funds).
5. Maintaining adequate academic development is required.
Financial Aid Application Process
1. Fill out your FAFSA.
Every year, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Help (FAFSA®) to be evaluated for financial aid. They may submit the application online at fafsa.gov.

2. Scholarship Applications
Incoming students: Apply for admission to UT by December 1 using either the ApplyTexas or the Coalition for College application.

4. Verification
Following the submission of your FAFSA, the Office of Scholarships and Financial help may seek additional information in order to complete your financial aid application.

5. Notification of Award
You will get your Financial Aid Notification by CASH (FAN). Your FAN will contain your financial aid offer and provide you the option to accept, deny, or decrease your award amount.
