Some numbers used to calculate the cost of attendance are averages taken from the Cost of Attendance Survey (COAS), which is run by the Office of the President at the University of California and adjusted yearly for inflation.

The maximum financial aid amount in your award letter is based on the cost of attendance. The nine-month academic year is used to determine the cost of attendance.

These numbers might not be final; the University of California Regents or the President of the University of California have the authority to alter the real tuition, fees, and levies.

UCSB Tuition Grant

Students from low- and middle-income families are eligible for Cal Grant A. It just provides funding for tuition. It covers the required UC fees that are tacked on to each student’s tuition.

The various “student services fees” (also referred to as “campus-based fees”) assessed at each campus are not included.

Students from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds are given Cal Grant B grants. The only thing it offers in the first year of eligibility is an Access Grant. Besides the Access Grant, it offers fee support to students in their second through fourth years.

For highly deserving undergraduate students without a bachelor’s degree, the federal Pell Grant is available. The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) generated by the FAFSA is what determines eligibility.

The federal grant aid known as the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is given to students who have the greatest financial need.

They give it to undergraduate students who filed their FAFSAs on time and were found to have a suitable amount of financial need.

In the Federal Direct Loan program, UCSB takes part. The U.S. government gives money for Direct Loans directly to students.

These loans offer some deferral and flexible repayment choices together with low fixed interest rates. A credit check, as well as possible collateral, are unnecessary for direct subsidized and unsubsidized loans.

There are two types of Direct Loans: subsidized and unsubsidized. Interest does not collect on loans that are subsidized until after students graduate or leave school. You must have a need for money in order to qualify for a subsidized direct loan.

Interest accumulates on unsubsidized loans after the initial disbursement. They advise students to pay the interest while someone still enrol them in order to lower their overall loan balance after they graduate.

Undergraduate students who are residents of California, are accepted as timely FAFSA or CA Dream candidates, and who exhibit a sufficient level of financial need are given the UCSB Loan.
