The cost of tuition will increase by 3.9 percent to $62,110 for new, incoming first-year undergraduate students and returning second- and third-year students. The current tuition rate for 2023–22 is $59,780.

The fixed-tuition rate of their entering class will continue to apply to full-time undergraduate students who enrolled at GW before fall 2023.

The Student Association fee and a discounted transit fee for unlimited usage of Metrorail and Metrobus are included in the $290 in mandatory fees.

George Washington University Tuition Grant

The federal Pell Grant award period runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. According to legislative criteria, students who are currently incarcerated or who have been found guilty of a drug offense are ineligible for federal Pell Grants.

George Washington University Tuition Loan

In order to assist students in need of financial assistance, the Federal Direct Subsidized Loan has more benevolent terms.

The interest on a Direct Subsidized Loan is covered by the U.S. Department of Education while a student is enrolled at least half-time, for the first six months following graduation (known as a grace period), and throughout a period of deferment (a postponement of loan payments).

Only undergraduate students in need are eligible for Direct Subsidized Loans.

The student is to pay the interest on a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan at all times.

The interest will accrue (build up) and be capitalized if a student decides not to pay it while enrolled in school or during grace periods, deferment periods, or forbearance periods (interest will be added to your principal loan).

Undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree students can all apply for federal direct unsubsidized loans. For students to qualify for a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, there is no requirement to show financial need.

George Washington University Tuition Work Study

Through the federally funded Federal Work-Study Program, eligible students can make money while working for GW departments, regional NGOs, governmental organizations, and community service providers.

Based on their eligibility for need-based assistance, students are eligible for work-study. Students may receive up to the total of their annual award after receiving it.

The work-study award is normally paid to the student via a biweekly salary, but if they prefer, they can complete the Title IV Authorization form, which is available on the Student Accounts website, and have their earnings credited to their university account.
