Each year in June, the UT Board of Trustees determines the official tuition and fee amounts. Every fall, new rates go into effect. As part of the budgeting process, the UT administration makes recommendations to the board on tuition and fees.

Depending on what you are studying, additional per-credit-hour charges can be applied. For instance, there are additional costs for business, engineering, and nursing courses.
Depending on your housing situation, indirect costs (fees not imposed by UT) can change.

Financial Aid is an avenue of helping students whom cannot fund their college tuition pay for their college. The various forms of financial aid includes grants, scholarship, work study and loan.

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the initial step in the scholarship application process, including HOPE.

February 1 is the priority deadline (NOTE: the priority deadline for the 2023-23 FAFSA has been extended through March 1, 2023). 003530 is the federal school code for UT.

The academic divisions and colleges at UT all provide scholarships. While some go to incoming freshmen, the majority go to enrolled students who have satisfied the academic requirements for their majors.

You must submit your admissions application by the early action deadline of November 1 and finish your Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) by November 15 in order to be considered for freshmen competitive scholarships.

They can make direct scholarship applications through the UT application.

University of Tennessee Tuition Loan

Many families supplement other financing sources with loans to help pay for their children’s education.

The US Department of Education manages Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans. Federal law sets the competitive interest rates offered by both lending programs.

As soon as they disburse the loan to your UT student account, interest accumulates.

While they enrolled you in school and for the first six months after graduation, the Department of Education will pay the interest on a Direct Subsidized Loan.

The interest on a Direct Unsubsidized Loan is entirely your responsibility. You have the option of starting your loan and interest payments early incurring no fees.

University of Tennessee Tuition Grant

Grants are need-based financial aid that is not repaid. They set aside for them who have the greatest financial needs.

Your eligibility is determined by the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number the FAFSA produces. Some awards are first-come, first-served, and have a finite amount of funding. Each October 1, FAFSA applications are made available.

Only undergraduate students who haven’t already completed a bachelor’s or professional degree are typically eligible for federal Pell Grants. A student in a post-baccalaureate teacher certification program may occasionally be eligible for a federal Pell Grant.

Undergraduates with severe financial need are eligible for Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG). You must complete the FAFSA in order for UT to assess your level of financial need before applying for an FSEOG.

They distribute FSEOGs first to students who qualify for Federal Pell Grants and have the greatest financial need. There is no need to pay back the FSEOG.

University of Tennessee Tuition Work Study

The need-based federal work-study program. It enables qualified undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to pay a portion of their tuition through part-time employment. Both full-time and part-time students are eligible to receive.

Students at UT receive an average of $3,000 per year through the Work-Study program. Your remaining need and the number of hours you labor will decide the exact amount you receive.

Depending on your award amount and class schedule, work-study students typically put in less than 30 hours a week.

The program encourages work relating to your field of study and community involvement. On-campus jobs pay $9.00 per hour, while community service jobs off-campus pay $13.50 per hour.
