A large number of Dartmouth students are chosen to receive one of our more than 800 named scholarship grants.

This is an honorific distinction that ties your Dartmouth scholarship to a particular endowed fund but does not affect the amount of your financial aid allocation.

Students are matched to specific funds based on information submitted to us and the interests of the donors; no separate application is necessary for these awards.

Every year, you can be invited to thank your contributor for their contribution. You might even get to meet them and take advantage of the chance for networking.

For students who meet the requirements, the federal government awards Pell Grants based on their demonstrated financial need as shown by their FAFSA data.

The College provides Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) to those students who are most in need. Although they range in size, they never go over $4,000 annually.

Undergraduate students from some states may apply for need-based grants at Dartmouth. Your eligibility for other programs may also include state grants. After receiving them, state funding will match dollar-for-dollar the Dartmouth Scholarship.

While the student is enrolled at least half-time, the federal government will cover the interest for student borrowers who qualify for need-based Direct Subsidized Loans.

The Direct Unsubsidized Loan is available to all other students, including those who might only be eligible for a partially subsidized loan.

The terms and circumstances are the same, but the student borrower is in charge of paying the interest that accumulates while they are enrolled in classes. Please visit the Federal Student Aid Website for information on current interest rates and origination fees.

Dartmouth Tuition Student Employment and Work Study

Employment eligibility is a component of nearly all financial aid awards. Students have the option to take advantage of this chance to work on campus and make money to help pay for their indirect expenses.

These revenues are given to the student directly rather than deducted from their tuition payment.
