Northwestern Tuition Financial Aid

Northwestern Tuition Scholarship

In 2023–21, the University gave $200 million to undergraduate students, and roughly 50 percent of those students were given a Northwestern University Scholarship.

An entering first-year student’s eligibility for financial aid is restricted to four years of attendance, whereas an entering transfer student’s eligibility is restricted to three years of enrollment.

Northwestern Tuition Grant

The federal Pell Grant, the largest federal grant program, is intended to help students from low-income families. They give these awards to undergraduate degree-seeking students without a bachelor’s or graduate degree.

The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) on the FAFSA, the cost of attendance, enrollment status, and quarters of attendance are used to determine eligibility for this grant. The award range is $652 – $6,095 for full-time enrollment.

If a student is Pell-qualified and can show a great need, they may be eligible for SEOG supplemental financial help, which goes beyond the Federal Pell Grant.

The prize ranges from $100 to $4,000, depending on the financial situation and the need of the student.

Northwestern Tuition Work Study

Congress created the Federal Work-Study Program to assist students in finding jobs to pay for college expenses while gaining work experience related to academic majors and interests.

Annual participation in the program at Northwestern University is around 2,000 undergraduates.

Most students work six to ten hours per week. The money is given to students directly and is meant to cover personal needs like books. Funds from federal work-study programs are not applied to students’ invoices.

Based on financial need, they grant students eligibility to take part in the Federal Work-Study program. To be considered for financial help, students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as part of the application process.

The range of awards for the academic year is $2,200 to $3,600. Rather than a pay guarantee, it is an earnings cap.

Students must develop a schedule with their employers based on this cap and their hourly pay in order to ensure that this restriction won’t be reached before the end of the school year.

Students are free to decline their work-study award for the entire year or just a certain term. If a student declines work-study, they might not get their award back if they later change their mind.

Northwestern Tuition Loan

In order to assist pay for educational expenditures, students and parents may choose to take out loans. Depending on your financial eligibility, there are various loan programs available.

They urge you to talk with a financial aid counselor about your alternatives after reviewing your spending plan and financing requirements.

Students who are eligible for need-based help may borrow a Stafford Loan that is subsidized, while those who are not may take an unsubsidized loan. They only use student names for Stafford loans.

Parents of undergraduate students have a financial option called the Northwestern Parent Loan.
