GTUC was originally known as Ghana Telecom University before it was changed to Ghana Communication Technology University. 

This emerged from the break-away of Ghana Telecom Company and the University it was however formerly known as Ghana Telecom Training Centre (GTTC).

Ghana Communication Technology University was founded in 1948 as a telecommunications training school by the then-British Administration (Department of Post and Telecommunications).

Furthermore, the reason for the establishment of the training center was to train technicians and linesmen to operate and maintain telecommunication equipment and plants.

GTUC is a center for academic excellence providing an enabling environment for quality teaching and learning, research, intellectual creativity, innovation, and service to the community.

Basic Admission Requirements

Conditions for Admission to Undergraduate Programs

Holders of SSSCE/WASSCE

Those who have completed the SSSCE or WASSCE and received credit in the following subjects: English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science/Social Studies, and three (3) electives pertinent to the chosen program, with an overall score of 24 or higher.

A degree program applicant must have at least credits in English Language, Core Mathematics, and Integrated Science (for programs related to science) (A1-C6 in WASSCE and A-D in SSSCE).), or Social Studies (for programs not linked to science), including (3) three electives.

O-Level/ A-Level Holders

O-LEVEL/A-LEVEL holders who have earned credits in at least five (5) topics at the GCE “O” Level (or its equivalent), such as English Language, Mathematics, and at least two (2) passes in the pertinent advanced-level courses. Such applicants are assigned to a degree program level of 200.

How to Apply for the Admission

Note that there are procedures for offline applications and online applications.

Offline Application Applicants

Candidates can pick up their admission forms at the GTUC Information Centre,  GTUC – Adjacent Police Training School, Tesano, Accra.

And other campuses: Kumasi Campus Amanfrom – University Junction– Off the main Barekese Road, Koforidua Campus Charley Junction,

Ho Learning Centre, Vodafone Regional Head Office, Takoradi Learning Centre, Vodafone Regional Office

All application forms should be submitted with the sum of GH¢150.00 before the closing date of the sales of forms.

However, copies of Certificates/result slips should be submitted to the admissions offices before the closing date also.

Online Application Applicants

1. Visit the school website

2. Create an account and log into the portal

3. Start your application and complete the relevant sections

4. Pay for the form using Mobile Money options

5. Finally, submit your application

WAEC SCRATCH card(s) to their application form depending on the number of sittings and West African Examination Council (WAEC) result should be added for only Foreign students alone.

How to Create and Log in to the Students Portal

1. Go to the GTUC website and click on the “Student Portal” link at the top right corner of the homepage.

2. On the student portal login page, click on the “New User Registration” button.

3. Fill in your data into your online form correctly.

4. Choose a username and password for your student portal account.

5. And click on the “Submit” button.

However, for every successful registration, an email will be sent from GTUC containing your login credentials with other instructions.

 Now, go back to the GTUC student portal login page and enter your username and password to log in to your newly created account.

However, if you’re logged in, you’ll have access to important information such as your course schedules, grades, and academic progress.
