Budgets for student expenses contain estimated tuition and fee costs as well as allocations for the price of books and supplies, transportation, food, housing, and personal costs.

The amount of financial aid that students may earn in total—including from student loans—is reflected in these allowances.

The student spending budget is built using the following variables:

  • Where a student resides (at home with their parents, on-campus, or off-campus).
  • State of legal residence for the student.
  • Enrolment standing of the pupil (the number of credits for which the student enrolls).

Please choose the proper level to view the attendance fee:

Students who are independent and must pay for elder or child care may have to change their expenditure budget.

Florida Gulf Coast University Tuition Loan

Federal Direct Loans are low-interest loans for parents and students to assist in covering the expense of a student’s education. The U.S. Department of Education is the lender.

Students at FGCU are strongly recommended to only borrow what is necessary to cover their tuition for the academic year.

At FGCU, there are three different Federal Direct loan programs:

Based on their demonstrated financial need, students are awarded Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loans (only for students).

The federal government covers the interest on subsidized Stafford loans for the duration of the grace period, any authorized deferments, and the student’s enrollment in classes.

Student-only loans offered by the federal government are called Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and they are not issued based on need.

The entire interest that accrues on Unsubsidized Stafford loans during the student’s academic year is their responsibility.

Florida Gulf Coast University Tuition Work Study

Undergraduate and graduate students in need of financial assistance can work part-time employment under the Federal Work Study (FWS) program, which enables them to make money to cover educational costs.

To assess their eligibility for the program, students must submit the FAFSA each year.

Depending on the kind of work the student does and the necessary abilities, the rate of pay is at least the federal minimum wage in effect today, although it may be more.

Students must enroll in at least half-time (6 credits for undergraduate students and 5 credits for graduate students) and achieve enough academic progress to be eligible for the program.

Florida Gulf Coast University Tuition Scholarship

The annual scholarship budget at FGCU is $30 million. Scholarships are awarded based on a number of criteria, including but not limited to leadership, academic achievement, and financial need.

An award awarded to high school graduates who are selected National Merit Scholars may cover the whole cost of attendance for an in-state student, which includes tuition and fees, on-campus housing and board, books, and other expenditures.

A first application is not necessary. National Merit, National Achievement, and National Hispanic Scholars are welcome to apply for the following scholarships, which FGCU is happy to provide.

Students must enroll at FGCU no later than the Fall semester after their high school graduation and must be recognized as National Merit, National Achievement, or National Hispanic Scholar Finalists in order to qualify.

Students must give the Office of Undergraduate Admissions a copy of the award letter or certificate.

The Federal Student Assistance Program stipulates that students must be US citizens or satisfy the criteria for eligible non-citizens. To find out more about scholarships, click here.

Undergraduate students without a bachelor’s degree who may show financial need are eligible for the federal Pell Grant.

Eligibility is based on the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the FAFSA and their attendance status at the end of add/drop each semester.

For the academic year (fall/spring) 2020–2021, awards are predicted to range from $639 to $6,345. Each year, students are eligible for up to 150% of their planned Pell grants, which are three full-time semester grants.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants are provided to undergraduates who have a serious financial need (that is they have a low EFC and are also Federal Pell Grant recipients).

Prizes can range from $200 to $1000 per academic year, depending on the amount of money the college receives.

Due to a paucity of funding, not all students who meet the eligibility and deadline requirements will be given this grant. This grant is only valid for one year, and future years’ receipt is not certain.

By exploring the various financial aid options available at FGCU, students can find the support they need to make their college dreams a reality.
