Elon’s superior education is more than $10,000 less expensive overall per year than most comparable private schools and universities. Elon has routinely ranked as a “Best Value” university due to its lower costs and high four-year graduation rate.

Elon University’s official total cost of attendance, which is $59,627 for 2023–2023, is calculated by adding indirect costs, such as books, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses (set at $3,500), to tuition, fees, housing, and board for federal financial assistance reasons.

The All Access Basic meal plan and a standard double room are used to calculate room and board costs.

Depending on the room and board preferences, the overall actual costs per student may vary, but total financial help cannot exceed the $59,627 advertised cost of attendance.

Elon University Tuition Financial Aid

In accordance with a further aspect of the HEERF III law, all students who have submitted a FAFSA are qualified to have their FAFSAs reviewed for potential modifications to their account for the loss of family income due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The 2023 FAFSA is based on income and asset data from 2023, which was collected before COVID-19 was implemented.

Please get in touch with the Office of Financial Aid at mailto:finaid@elon.edu if you or your family have experienced a change in financial circumstances that has an impact on your financial condition so we can assess if you qualify for FAFSA amendments.

Your FAFSA can be modified to increase or add eligibility for federal and/or state need-based aid. There are no institutional funds available to Elon to improve your financial aid.

For need-based aid, apply early. Your chances of receiving the most assistance for which you are qualified to increase as a result.

By mid-January, you must have finished and turned in all necessary paperwork.

No aid is given out prior to a candidate’s acceptance for admission to Elon University unless they are a continuing student, but you shouldn’t wait until that point to apply.

Scholarships, grants, loans, and on-campus jobs will all be included in the financial help “package” that needy students would receive. Scholarships and grants are “gift” aid that doesn’t require repayment, whereas loans and employment are considered “self-help.”

Elon University Tuition Work Study

Working part-time while attending classes is one surefire strategy to assist pay for college expenditures.

Studies conducted at Elon and elsewhere have indicated that students who work on campus continue their studies more frequently than those who do not, particularly first-year.

Students who work on or off campus receive the personal satisfaction of contributing to their education as well as a wage to help with living expenses.

Over 800 students work at jobs on the Elon campus alone during a typical school year. Typically, students will work 10 to 20 hours per week at an on-campus office job, with campus recreation, at the library, etc., for a salary of $1,000 to $2,500 per year.

Students in need who labor on campus and are compensated according to the number of hours they put in are given funding through the federal work-study program. Awards vary according to the degree of need.

Federal Work-Study recipients have not assured employment, and because the money they earn is not paid in advance, they cannot use it to cover the direct expenses (such as tuition, lodging and board, books, etc.) of the semester in which they are selected.

Elon University Tuition Scholarship

The most wanted forms of aid are obviously those that do not require repayments, such as scholarships and grants.

A little over 15% of incoming first-year students are given Presidential Scholarships worth $7,500 each year. Your high school performance will determine the rewards. No further software is required.

When the completed admissions application is evaluated, scholarships are automatically given to students who match the requirements. Presidential Scholarships are re-eligible each year based on satisfactory academic progress.

You will be encouraged to think broadly and exercise your imagination through Elon’s nationally acclaimed curriculum for active learning. Each and every first-year candidate will be eligible for this $5,000 prize, which is re-awardable each year.

Additionally, each participant will receive a one-time award of $2,000 to be applied toward a project or Elon Experience that has been approved. Your high school transcript and, maybe more importantly, your application essay will determine your selection.

Elon University Tuition Need-Based Aid

For need-based aid, eligibility must be determined annually. Students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid in order to be considered for all federal aid programs (FAFSA).

Students at Elon must submit the CSS Profile from the College Scholarship Service (CSS) as an incoming student in order to be considered for any other sort of need-based financial aid (typically a one-time filing requirement).

Both forms seek information on income, assets, the number of family members attending college, and the size of the family. The CSS Profile also asks about house ownership as well as past and present incomes and expenses, among other things.

The Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which represents the annual amount that the student’s family is expected to give toward the student’s education, will be calculated using the same formula on both forms.

The two determined EFCs from the FAFSA and CSS Profile may differ based on the financial situation of the household.
