About the University

Waltham, Massachusetts-based Brandeis Institution is a private research university. They found Brandeis University in 1948 as a non-sectarian, coeducational university funded by the Jewish community on the campus of the former Middlesex University.

Brandeis University’s admissions process is more selective, with a 39% acceptance rate. Half of the Brandeis University candidates had a SAT score between 1370 and 1530 or an ACT score between 31 and 34.

However, one-fourth of approved applicants received scores that were higher than these ranges, while the other quarter received scores that were lower.

Brandeis University expects you to be near the top of your class and well above average with a GPA of 3.83. We should fill your transcript with mostly A’s.

You should also have taken several AP or IB classes to show that you can handle academics at the college level.

If you are a junior or senior, it is difficult to change your GPA in time for college applications. If your GPA is at or below the school average of 3.83, you’ll need to improve your SAT or ACT score. This will allow you to compete effectively against applicants with higher GPAs than you.

SAT Requirements for Brandeis Admissions

Brandeis University’s average SAT composite score is a 1400 on a 1600 SAT scale. This score places Brandeis University in a strong competitive position for SAT test scores.

The New SAT 25th percentile score is 1280, and the New SAT 75th percentile score is 1500. A New SAT score of 1280 places you below average, while a score of 1500 places you above average.

ACT Requirements Brandeis Admissions

Brandeis University’s average ACT score is 31. With this score, Brandeis University is very competitive for ACT scores.

The ACT score for the 25th percentile is 29, and the ACT score for the 75th percentile is 33.

Even if Brandeis University says there is no minimum ACT requirement, if you apply with a 29 or lower, you will have a very difficult time getting in unless you have something else very impressive in your application.

Because there are so many applicants scoring 31 and above, a 29 will appear academically weak.
