WPI was one of the first engineering and technology universities in the United States, founded in 1865 in Worcester, and now has 14 academic departments offering over 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in science, engineering, technology, management, the social sciences, and the humanities and arts, leading to bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees.

Worcester Polytech admissions are competitive, with a 59% acceptance rate. Students admitted to Worcester Polytech have an average SAT score of 1310-1480 or an ACT score of 27-32.
GPA Requirements for WPI Admissions
Worcester Polytechnic Institute expects you to be near the top of your class and well above average with a GPA of 3.89.
It should fill your transcript with mostly A’s. You should also have taken several AP or IB classes to show that you can handle academics at the college level.
If you are a junior or senior, it is difficult to change your GPA in time for college applications. If your GPA is at or below the school average of 3.89, you’ll need to improve your SAT or ACT score. This will allow you to compete effectively against applicants with higher GPAs than you.
