The Agricultural College of the State of Michigan is the first institution of its sort in the United States. Also, was created before the Agricultural College of Pennsylvania.

Michigan State University admissions are tough, although there are no prerequisites. Therefore, MSU firmly supports a high school curriculum that prepares students for college. Also, students are encouraged to apply early as well.

First-Year Admission is Based on:

1. Your academic performance in high school

2. The strength and quality of your curriculum

3. Recent trends in your academic performance

4. Your class ranks

5. Your ACT or SAT results — however, please note that MSU is test optional and prospective students have the option to apply to MSU without submitting an ACT or SAT score.

6. Your leadership, talents, conduct and diversity of experience

Therefore, the major is the first step in being admitted to a graduate degree program (DMA, EdS, MA, MFA, MM, MS, PhD). The same department makes the final admissions decision after reviewing the application.

In the same semester, you may apply to up to two (2) distinct graduate majors. They must submit each with the whole set of paperwork that MSU and the specific graduate programs demand. Also, the application fee must be paid for each application.

With a GPA of 3.75, Michigan State requires you to be above average in your high school class. Therefore, you’ll need at least a mix of A’s and B’s, with more A’s than B’s. Also, you can compensate for a lower GPA with harder classes, like AP or IB classes.

With a 76 percent acceptance rate, Michigan State University applications are more stringent. However, SAT scores between 1100 and 1300 or an ACT score between 23 and 29. Therefore, they have required admission to attend Michigan State for half of the candidates.
