What GPA do You Need to Get into UNC-Chapel Hill?

A student who earns at least a 2.5 weighted high school grade point average OR a minimum test score on either the ACT (19) or the SAT (1010) is eligible for review by any of the 16 UNC System universities.

A student must still take either the ACT or the SAT to be considered for admission.

UNC is an extremely difficult school to get into. The university admitted a record-low 23.5% of regular decision applicants to its class of 2025, accepting just 10,446 students from a pool of 44,3821.

UNC: 57,198 have applied this year, and about 24% will be admitted, which is a 6.5% increase over fall 2023 applicants.

The average GPA for admission is 4.39 or so on a 4-point scale. DUKE: 37,302 applied in 2023, and about 8.3% are accepted. The average GPA to be admitted is about 4.13.
