You will mostly need to budget for two costs: your living expenses and your course fees.

There are different course fees for different courses, and they cover the cost of your academic instruction and amenities.

For details, see the page for the appropriate course. You will either have to pay home (UK/Republic of Ireland) or overseas (as appropriate) course fees depending on your fee status.

If you are unsure as to whether you would be eligible for domestic or foreign fees, please visit our fee status page, which outlines the evaluation process.

Oxford Tuition Course Fees

The course fees paid by matriculated students* cover tuition, oversight, academic services, and facilities provided by the university (including your department or faculty) and the colleges but do not cover housing or other living expenses.

The total payable is the sum of the university fee and college fee amounts that have been published separately on the university website up to and including the academic year 2018–19.

Beginning with the 2023–20 academic year, matriculated students’ course costs are given as a single number. The goal of this adjustment is to make sure that the total amount of fees that are due is always crystal clear.

Home undergraduate and PGCE students may be eligible for a tuition loan from the UK government to pay their entire course fee.

Your course costs, which are split between the University (including your department or faculty) and your college according to a formula, cover both your expenses for college and university services. On request, the Student Fees Team will provide more information.

For 2023, the study fee for Home students doing their first undergraduate degree will be £9,250.

Home students do not have to pay any fees in advance since the UK government will lend them money to cover their tuition costs in full.

Our Payments and Refunds and Fee Liability websites have more details on the arrangements if you prefer to pay your course costs in full upfront rather than applying for a loan.

Oxford Tuition Scholarship

You must first receive an offer of admission to one of our undergraduate programs before submitting a scholarship application.

We advise applicants to look into opportunities for obtaining money in their home country as there are sadly relatively few scholarships available for international students pursuing undergraduate degrees.

We will award you a Crankstart Scholarship if you are a UK resident pursuing your first undergraduate degree and your annual household income is £27,500 or less.

This comprises a non-repayable scholarship for up to £5,500 annually for education and living expenses.

The Crankstart Scholarship also gives recipients access to paid internships that help them gain employable skills, volunteer opportunities, and social and community-building activities.

Visit the Crankstart Scholarship webpage for complete information on the scholarship.

Email the University’s loans staff if you require any loan, enrolment, tuition fee confirmation, deferment, or tax documents to be completed. All forms pertaining to Canadian loans and taxes must be completed by the US loans staff, not your department or college.
