Kent State Tuition Grant
Grants are a type of Gift Aid that doesn’t require repayment. The following programs that Kent State University takes part in are listed:
The amount of the federal Pell Grant for 2023–2023 is $692–6,895. Undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who can prove their financial need are eligible for this grant. Every year, in early October, submit the FAFSA to apply.
The expected family contribution (EFC), as estimated by the government methodology, is used to compute the award based on need. Twelve full-time semesters of eligibility are the maximum lifetime limit.
$500–$1000 are awarded through the federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG). FSEOG is available to undergraduate U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents who can prove they have financial needs.
The amount of the reward is based on the student’s enrollment status, class level, residency status, and campus attendance; you must have zero EFC (under the federal calculation) (Kent or Regional). The amount of funding is limited.
For 2023–2023, the Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG) grant ranges from $337.50 to $1350 every semester.
According to the federal methodology, eligibility is based on need, enrollment, campus tuition costs, Ohio residency for at least a year, and undergraduates who have not yet received a baccalaureate degree.
For consideration, students must be enrolled in the majority of Kent Campus courses. Students may be eligible for grants of $337.50 to $1,350 per semester for the academic year 2023–2023.
Kent State Tuition Scholarship
Another way we try to make attending Kent State accessible for all students so they can graduate with the least amount of debt possible is by offering scholarships.
If you submit an application for admission to Kent State University before February 1, 2023, you will be eligible for first-year student merit scholarships.
To be invited to apply to the Honors College, you must apply to Kent State University by December 1, 2023, and receive admission.
You must declare a bachelor’s degree-granting major, be a citizen of the United States, be designated as an Ohio resident for tuition purposes, and intend to enroll full-time at the Kent Campus.
Merit scholarships are only valid for use on tuition, fees for instruction, and other general costs. The merit scholarship may be lowered or revoked if the sum of it and any other tuition award is greater than Kent State University’s tuition price.
Your tuition scholarship offer will be lowered or withdrawn if you are selected to receive a tuition benefit from Kent State University, a NEOMED employee tuition benefit, or a tuition waiver from another institution or university.
Students are not required to submit their SAT or ACT scores to Kent State because it is a test-optional university. If you have test results, you can ask that they not be included in the admissions decision.
The most recent exam results that can be submitted and still be considered for a scholarship is December 2023. Test results obtained after December 2023 won’t be taken into account when evaluating applicants for scholarships.
Kent State Tuition Loan
Loans are a type of self-help assistance that requires repayment. When financial aid awards are finalized, FAFSA-compliant Kent State students will be given consideration for Federal Direct Loans based on grade level.
Students who qualify for and demonstrate financial need for an undergraduate degree are given the Federal Direct Subsidized Loan.
Students who meet the requirements but do not exhibit financial need are given the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
Unsubsidized loans will incur interest while you are still in school. Any interest will be capitalized once your loan starts to be repaid.
For the loan funds to be credited to the student account, the borrower must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students and 4 credit hours for graduate students), as well as complete all other compliance criteria.
The bursar’s office will offer a refund if the money results in a credit balance on the student account.
Kent State Tuition Work Study
Self-help aid of the type known as Federal Work Study (FWS) must be acquired. The student’s bill won’t be adjusted to reflect the FWS award. A student’s biweekly remuneration will be determined by the number of hours they put in.
If a student is not given FWS, they can look for university-funded student employment. Visit the Career Exploration and Development website to look for and apply for a job that is funded by the institution or the FWS for students.
To use FWS, a student MUST be registered for at least half of the autumn and/or spring semesters. Students who are enrolled in six or more credits are considered half-time undergraduates. Graduates who are enrolled in four or more credits are deemed half-time.
