If you’re a student considering attending Morgan State University, you might be wondering: Does Morgan State give out scholarships? The answer is yes, and there are many opportunities available to help fund your education.Does Morgan State Give Out Scholarships?
Several scholarships may be awarded to a student as long as the totals do not go beyond their tuition costs.
These prizes, which are based on need and academic performance, are only occasionally offered to new and continuing Morgan students. Award sums can differ and are not assured.
Scholarships and Grants
Gifts include scholarships. They don’t have to be compensated. There are thousands of them, provided by educational institutions, businesses, people, nonprofit organizations, associations, communities, and religious institutions.
Although the scholarship application and search process takes time, it can be worthwhile. Several scholarships may be awarded to a student as long as the totals do not go beyond their tuition costs.
Institutional Scholarships
These prizes, which are based on need and academic performance, are only occasionally offered to new and continuing Morgan students. Award sums can differ and are not assured.
Scholarship Acceptance
Other MSU institutional prizes are not available to students who obtain full academic, institutional, or athletic scholarships.
Students will be obliged to choose just one award offer if numerous complete awards are being offered by other MSU offices, programs, and/or committees.
Additional Funding
With the university’s online Academic Works application, students can also submit a scholarship or grant application.
The Special Help grant through Academic Works is not available to students who receive the Bozeman, Quinn, or Jenkins prizes; however, they may be eligible for other awards.
Award Payment and Financial Aid in Excess of Charges (Overawards)
Your overall financial aid package, which includes academic/merit awards, academic grants and scholarships, university need-based awards, and all other aid from all sources (government, MSU, and private), cannot be greater than your MSU Cost of Attendance budget.
Your funding will be changed until your total aid falls within the cost of attendance if your total aid, which includes all university-funded awards, is greater than the cost of attendance.
If the overall amount of your aid is greater than the cost of attendance, we will first reduce your loans, then the University’s financing, and finally any additional outside money, until the total amount of your aid is equal to the cost of attendance.
Additional information on Overawards
Overawards typically occur from the student obtaining aid that the financial aid office was unaware of when it processed the student’s loan application or finalized the student’s financial aid package.
The Financial Assistance Office must receive documented evidence from the student confirming additional resources.
As soon as the student learns that he or she will receive the aid, this needs to be done. Even if they are not handled by our office directly, we must account for all sources of aid.
Application mistakes either by the student or, sporadically, the Financial Aid Office can also lead to over awards.
Regardless of the cause of the over-award, we are required by Federal regulation to remedy it. If we don’t, money may be returned to a student’s aid program and the institution may owe the student money. For no one can an exception be made.
