TWK Agri Programme 2024: YES Internship Opportunity
The Youth Employment Service (YES) project is a business-led effort sponsored by the government and labour that aims to empower unemployed youth by providing them with their first opportunity for excellent paid work experience. During a 12-month period, the programme provides a structured chance to get practical and relevant work experience.
The main deliverables:
- Support the Company in the capacity of a Trainee

- South African Citizen
- Between the age of 18 and 29
- Currently unemployed (proof of unemployment)
- Grade 12 or any Tertiary qualification
- Not previously part of a YES initiative

About TWK Agri
In June 1940, 52 Piet Retief Wattle Growers and Timber Association members gathered to establish their association as a co-operative, with a total membership of 114 and owning over 40 000 acres (16 000 ha) of wattle plantations. On June 21, 1940, the Transvaal Wattle Growers Co-operative Agricultural Company Limited was established.
The primary purpose of the co-operative was to promote the commercialization of its members’ timber and bark. Although this was a primary focus for many years, the board of directors quickly realised that it should not be their sole responsibility. Provision should also be made to furnish its members with the necessary production materials.
The name was changed to the Transvaal Wattle Growers Co-operative Limited, abbreviated to TWK, during the 42nd Annual General Meeting in 1982.
TWK has grown over the years into a fantastic company, offering its members and the community a wide range of products and services to meet their needs.
