Hampton University Tuition Scholarship
By awarding merit-based scholarships to incoming freshmen, HAMPTON UNIVERSITY is happy to acknowledge exceptional academic achievement.
Candidates are automatically considered for merit awards if they submit their completed admission application packages before the Early Action deadline. The admissions process is extremely competitive (November 15).
There is no need to submit a separate scholarship application in order to be considered for an award. Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 (unweighted) to be eligible for a merit-based award.
Furthermore, the need is a composite ACT score of 22 or a minimum of 1000 on the SAT (EBR & M). Merit-based scholarships are NOT available to applicants who use the test-optional policy.
Official scholarship offers are only communicated to recipients via formal means, and they are sent out independently from admissions offers. Letters of acceptance for scholarships are often sent out in late December.
Scholarships in Addition
The Character Scholarship honors people who have demonstrated exemplary character traits. Hampton University is now offering 100 first-time freshmen a $10,000 renewable scholarship.
How I Have Shown Excellence in Character is the subject of an essay that admitted freshmen may write.
The applicant’s instructor or guidance counselor must write a letter of recommendation addressing the applicant’s demonstrated character and submit it with the application.
Please send the aforementioned documentation to [email protected] if you want to apply for the Character Scholarship. Students must provide their credentials to this email address in order to be eligible for the award.
Room Scholarship
For accepted students who have not already received a scholarship of at least $10,000, room scholarships are available.
The award, which also covers the cost of utilities, includes all residence halls with the exception of James Hall Suites, Virginia Cleveland Suites, and Orchard Hall.
The Room Scholarship gives priority consideration to those who commit to attending by March 1 of each year. Students who are curious about more information should contact the Office of Admission.
Legacy Scholarship
Students with direct ancestors of Hampton University alumni are eligible for the Legacy Scholarship. Accepted students who have parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who attended Hampton University will get a $1,000 award.
If the student maintains a 3.0 overall grade point average, this scholarship is renewable for an additional three years. For information about applying for this award, please get in touch with the Office of Admission.
Information Beyond the Basics
Regardless of the source, a student’s entire financial aid package cannot be greater than the direct cost of attending the university (tuition, fees, room, and board).
This includes scholarships from the admissions office, the athletic department, and/or academic departments.
