Admission Requirements at Methodist University Ghana (MUG)

Methodist University Ghana (MUG) offers various undergraduate and graduate programs.

To gain admission, applicants need to meet specific requirements based on the level and type of program they are interested in.

Here are the admission requirements for different types of programs at MUG:

Diploma Requirements

For diploma programs at MUG, applicants should meet the following requirements:

1. SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants: Credit passes in three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, and any two elective subjects.

Undergraduate Requirements

For undergraduate programs, MUG has different requirements for SSSCE certificate holders and WASSCE certificate holders:

1. SSSCE Certificate Holders: Credit passes in three core subjects and any three elective subjects (grades A-D).

2. WASSCE Certificate Holders: Credit passes in three core subjects and any three elective subjects.

In addition to SSSCE and WASSCE certificates, holders of GBCE/ABCE, ‘O’/’A’ Levels, University Diplomas, HND, and foreign certificates are also eligible to apply for undergraduate programs at MUG.

Mature Applicants

1. Mature applicants must be 25 years or older and must write and pass an Entrance Examination organized by MUG.

2. Holders of NAC, HAC, and NAP Certificates are also eligible to apply for the BSc Degree in Nursing Programme (Entry Level is 200).

Graduate Requirements

For graduate programs, applicants must possess a good first degree. Specific requirements may vary depending on the program.

For programs under the Faculty of Education, the following criteria apply:

1. A first degree (at least a Second Class Lower Division) in any discipline from an approved tertiary institution.

2. A first degree (Third Class Division) or a Pass in any discipline from an approved tertiary institution with additional work experience of a minimum of 2 years.

Ph.D. Requirements

Applicants for admission to the Ph.D. in Education program at MUG should possess:

1. A Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree or Research Master’s degree in a related field obtained from an accredited tertiary institution.

2. An M.A./M.Ed. applicant without research must have obtained a GPA of 3.0 and not less than a grade of B in a research methods course.

Applicants for the Ph.D. program will also need to submit the following documents:

1. Research Proposal (limited to 1000 words)

2. Master’s Degree Transcript

3. Master’s Degree Certificate

4. Bachelor’s Degree Certificate

5. Personal Statement

6. Three (3) academic references in support of the application, with at least one reference from a Senior Lecturer on the applicant’s master’s program.

How to Apply for Methodist University?

Buy an E-voucher

You can buy an E-voucher with a Serial Number and a Pin for your application through the USSD code 88718# on all mobile telecommunication networks. The cost of the E-voucher varies based on your category:

• Undergraduate Ghanaian: GHC150
• Undergraduate Foreigner: GHC300
• Postgraduate Ghanaian: GHC300
• Postgraduate Foreigner: GHC600

To purchase, follow these steps:

1. Dial 88718#.

2. Enter the name of the institution (e.g., MUG).

3. Select the form you want to purchase.

4. Wait for a prompt to authorize the transaction or approve payment on *170# or “My approval” if the prompt is delayed.

Complete the Online Form

After purchasing the E-voucher, follow these instructions to complete your online application form:

1. Prepare the necessary documents, including a passport picture (not exceeding 2MB) and your educational certificates and transcript.

2. Complete Form 1 with your personal information and upload your passport picture. Ensure the picture meets the size requirements (not more than 2MB).

3. Move on to Form 2 to provide examination results, educational background, work experience (if any), contact person details, and miscellaneous information.

4. Make sure to select your program in ascending order, including ENTRY MODE, CAMPUS, SESSION, and PROGRAMME to study. ENTRY MODE must be selected first to enable the selection of the others.

Upload Documents

In Form 3, upload all relevant documents, ensuring that each file size does not exceed 500KB. Documents may include certificates, CVs, transcripts, referee forms, and passport pages for foreign applicants.

Submit Your Application

Only submit your application when you have completed all entries on the forms. Once submitted, you will not be able to apply online again. You can only view or print the submitted form.
