Brief Introduction About University of Zululand
The University of Zululand, also known as UniZulu, is the only comprehensive tertiary educational institution in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, north of the Tugela River.
Its new status is consistent with South Africa’s National Plan for Higher Education, which aims to eliminate inequity and costly duplication.
As a result, UniZulu provides career-focused programs in addition to a limited number of relevant university degree courses designed with potential employees and employers in mind.
By forming partnerships with the University of Mississippi, Radford University, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and Chicago State University, the university has strengthened its existing ties with a diverse range of tertiary educational institutions in the United States and Europe.
University of Zululand Application Requirements 2024
We will provide here the University Of Zululand UNIZULU admission application requirements for the 2024 intake. The following documents must be submitted with your UNIZULU application:
For South African Applicants
- Certified copy of your Identification Documents (ID)
- Certified copy of your Grade 12 exam results or
- Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you’re currently doing Grade 12)
- Email address and Phone Number.
For International Applicants:
- Certified copy of your Identification Document (ID) of your home country.
- Certified copy of your home country’s Passport Number.
- Study Visa in South Africa.
- English Proficiency.
- Medical Aid.
- Proof of IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programs.
- Copy of the University of Zululand English Language Programme Test (if necessary).

- The CAO number appears in the tear-off slip on the CAO application form.
- Use your unique CAO number as a reference when paying the application fee.
Documents to be Submitted
- Proof of payment of the non-refundable application fee (see relevant fee above)
- Certified copy of Identity Document
- Certified copy of Matric results/certificate
- A certified copy of an academic record with conduct from another tertiary institution’s studies
- Certified copy of diploma or degree certificate (if available)
Foreign students must also provide the following information:
- SAQA verification certificate
- Valid passport and study permit
- Proof of financial means (bank statements, bursaries, cash on hand/cheque traveler’s to cover anticipated living expenses in the Republic and tuition fees)
