The South African Bank Note Company (SABN) is a security printing company based in South Africa that is in charge of printing the South African Rand.

The South African Bank Note Company was established in 1958 as a joint venture between the South African Reserve Bank and a British banknote printer, Bradbury Wilkinson. In 1969, the SABN (as it is referred to) became a wholly owned subsidiary of the South African Reserve Bank. The core function of the SABN is to serve the nation by providing quality banknotes at competitive prices.

The primary objective of the South African Reserve Bank is to protect the value of the currency in the interest of balanced and sustainable economic growth in the Republic. The South African Reserve Bank, in support of its primary objective, must perform its functions independently and without fear, favour, or prejudice.

Requirements for the South African Bank Note Company Programme 2024

Applicants for the South African Bank Note company programme must have the following minimum requirements:

  • Matric certificate
  • National Diploma in Safety Management as a minimum qualification
  • Must have completed the qualification
  • Must have obtained an average aggregate of 60% and above
  • Must be a South African citizen

  • Certified copy of ID
