About The DFFE
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) was renamed on 1 April 2024, from the previous Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF). In June 2024 the DFFE had been established by incorporating the forestry and fisheries functions from the previous Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries into the Department of Environmental Affairs.
The DFFE is mandated to give effect to the right of citizens to an environment that is not harmful to their health or well-being and to have the environment protected for the benefit of present and future generations. To this end, the Department provides leadership in environmental management, conservation, and protection towards sustainability for the benefit of South Africans and the global community.
Applications for the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment’s (DFFE) Internship Programme intake are now open and will close on 03 June 2024. Unemployed graduates who wish to partake in the twenty-four (24) months Internship Programme are invited to express interest in the manner of submitting applications to the department. The department is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer. It is the intention of the DFFE to promote representivity (race, gender, and disability).
