UCSB Admissions: Application and Requirement
UCSB admissions, a top-ranked university with a vibrant campus culture, located in one of the most stunning settings you can think of, has to cross off a few items on your list of essentials for a university.
About 90 undergraduate majors and 40 minors in fields like engineering, biological sciences, social sciences, humanities, and fine arts are available at UCSB.
UCSB Admissions
Applying to UC is much easier than you would imagine. This is due to the fact that you can submit one application for as many campuses as you desire.
How to Apply
All University of California campuses use the UC application. By starting your application, you’re taking the first step toward applying for UCSB admission and scholarships all at once.
Each year, the UC application is made available on August 1 and accepted between November 1 and 30.
1. On the UC admissions page, you may find comprehensive information on prerequisites, how to apply, and other topics.
2. Neither UCSB’s admissions nor scholarship selection procedures will require SAT/ACT results. The opportunity to submit scores is available to all UC applicants.
If you want to do so, admissions counselors looking over your UCSB application won’t be able to see these results.
3. Exam results may be used to determine where you will take a course if you are accepted and decide to enroll at UCSB. Visit the UC Exam Requirement page for more information on the UC system.
In addition, for both high school and transfer applicants, we provide beneficial webinars on the UC application and Personal Insight Questions.
For additional information, go to our Virtual Admissions Events page. We also provide a step-by-step tutorial for each section of the UC application in our nine-part YouTube collection.

Freshman Applicants
We are overjoyed that you are thinking about making UC Santa Barbara your permanent residence.
You should submit a freshman admission application if you are a high school senior or recent graduate who hasn’t enrolled in another institution or university.
In other words, you are still regarded as a freshman candidate even if you completed college-level coursework while in high school, including during the summer after graduation.
Admission Requirements
Each year, UCSB selects its incoming class of Gauchos based on eligibility standards.
Visit our Eligibility and Selection page to learn about the criteria we use to choose from among qualified applicants and the standards you must meet in order to be admitted.
Future Transfer Applicants
Only junior-level transfer applicants are accepted by UCSB for the fall quarter. Review our transfer standards and get ready for junior-level transfer if you’re a student interested in transferring as a sophomore.
In the same vein, senior standing students are not permitted to transfer to UCSB and should consult the Graduate Division for information on graduate degree possibilities.
Admission Requirements
August 1 marks the opening of the autumn admissions application, which is required by November 30 of the year before a transfer.
Similarly, students transferring straight from a California community college are given priority consideration for transfer admission, while applicants from other schools and institutions are invited to submit an application.
