- Mature students that have not completed any transferable post-secondary study are eligible to apply
- Transfer applicants are not eligible to apply to the General Entrance Award Program with the exception of Indigenous Black and First National students from the Maritimes that wish to be considered for the First Nations and Indigenous Black Student Scholarship
- Applicants should have an 80% admission average which is placed on the university’s website.

The Sankofa Scholarships
Value: International Students $48,000 ($12,000 per year. Renewable for 4 years)
Open to: one award for an international student of Black/African descent from the Caribbean (preference to those from the former British West Indies) entering an undergraduate degree program
