What if my SRD grant is declined?

If you check your SASSA SRD R350 application status and it says “decline” it simply means that your application did not meet the SASSA SRD application process, you can as well try to reapply for the grant through the department of social development (DSD) website srd.dsd.gov.za.

Or you call the DSD telephone number on 0123127727 to query and if you find it hard to call, please send an email to grantappeals@dsd.gov.za. we would respond immediately.

You can re-apply carefully again through the process below.

  • Go to the SASSA website
  • Scroll down until you see “How do I apply for this grant”
  • click on click here to apply online
  • you will be redirected to this URL http://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19b/auth
  • enter your mobile phone number and click “send SMS”
  • follow the prompts to complete your SASSA R350 application process.

Sometimes it may not be your incorrect application procedure or our team; rather, it may be that we are still checking your information for verification.

In this case, you need to exercise patience while we complete the verification of your information. Again, if your R350 grant is declined due to UIF registration, an appeal can be made.

This appeal will mean that SASSA has to review your application and you will have to give them a good reason why you believe you should receive the grant.

You will then be informed of the consequence of your appeal through the Sassa website.

It is important to know that the R350 SRD grant was introduced to monetarily assist disadvantaged South Africans who are unemployed and do not receive any source of income to support themselves and their families.

Why was my SASSA grant declined and then approved?

The quick response is that the requirements might have changed and caused a delay in your SASSA funding.

If you feel they have made a mistake in declining your grant in the future, you must appeal it within 30 days, or it will stand.
