R350 Grant Payments Commence Today
The day has finally arrived as SASSA will begin processing payments to all those approved for the Special Relief of Distress grant from today. SASSA has also provided some clarity on R350 grant payment dates.
As we are now in the last week of August, the first round of the new R350 grant payments will start today. SASSA received millions of applications since opening the systems just over two weeks ago.
SASSA made sure to emphasise the following:
Payments for the special COVID-19 SRD grant will be made from today (23 August 2024,) however beneficiaries cannot be give a specific date as to when that particular beneficiary will be paid.
The SASSA grant will be paid in one of the following ways:
- Into the bank account of the beneficiary
- Through the South African Post Office (SAPO)
- Through Bank Money Mobile Money Transfers (cash send or e-voucher). This option is for beneficiaries who do not have bank accounts.
Beneficiaries who aren’t receiving their grant money through the bank will need to wait for an SMS which will tell them that they can go fetch their grant. You should not head out to collect a grant if you did not receive an SMS.
SASSA has also said that they are working to make more channels open for beneficiaries to collect their grants which would ensure safer and faster collections.
Payments will be made for August and then until March 2024
