Application Requirements
Things to note before applying online to North-West University:
- You’ll need an email address to complete the application.
- South African applicants will need an ID number. Foreign applicants will need their passport numbers.
- There are different online application portals for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
- First, you will need to register as a user before you can apply online.

Make Sure:
- That you know the review program you are applying for
- That you meet the statutory and college admission requirements for your qualification(s) of choice
- That you meet the minimum academic points score (APS) for your qualification(s) of choice
- That you have a valid e-mail address and cellphone number, and you accept that NWU will communicate with you during the application process using this e-mail address and cellphone number.
- That you upload all the required documents and pay the fees.
How to Apply Online
Step 1: Getting a student number
- Go to the online application platform
- Click on New application
- Click on Create new student number and complete all the fields
Step 2: Log in
When you receive a student number, log in with it and the PIN number you created.
Step 3: What do you want to study?
Fill out all the fields. Use the yearbooks to learn more about the qualifications, modes of delivery, and curricula.
Step 4: Upload supporting documents
Please upload the following supporting documents in order for us to consider your application. If the application is incomplete, the University may reject it:
- Grade 12 results, grade 11 results (final results only), or a copy of your matric certificate–if you have already passed matric.
- Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after they present the improved results to the NWU.
- Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.
- Completed undertaking
- Copy of your ID
- Copy of your academic record (if applicable).
- Additional documents for international prospective students:
- A copy of relevant results
- A copy of your passport
Step 5: Submit the application
