WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
This scholarship provides either a:
- $10,000 tuition fee remission in the first year of an undergraduate degree,
- 50 percent fee remission for the three-year duration of an undergraduate degree, or
- 100 percent fee remission for the three-year duration of an undergraduate degree
Eligibility– All international students with excellent high school achievements and accepted to undergraduate programs
Number of Recipients– Around 50 students per year
Application Procedure- After students have been accepted, those students will be automatically considered, and students do not need to submit a separate application form.

Melbourne Graduate Scholarship
Are you a graduate student undertaking graduate study at the University of Melbourne, This scholarship is available to high achieving students to study at the University of Melbourne.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
The scholarship provides fee remissions of between 25% and 100% of tuition fees for the duration of your course.
Number of Recipients– Around 28 students per year
Application Dates– Students need to submit their admission application to an appropriate graduate school of their choice.
Application Procedure– After students have been accepted, those students will be automatically considered, and students do not need to submit a separate application form.

Graduate Research Scholarships (Masters and Ph.D.)
This is one of the University of Melbourne scholarships open to graduate masters and Ph.D. students to undertake research work at the University. Thus if you are carrying out any research work in the university, you are eligible to apply.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Stipend and fee offset scholarships
- Full fee offset for up to two years for students undertaking a Masters by Research degree or up to four years for students undertaking a doctoral degree.
- Living allowance of $30,600 per year pro-rata (2023 full-time study rate) for up to two years for students undertaking a Masters by Research degree or up to 3.5 years for students undertaking a doctoral degree. The living allowance may be indexed annually and includes limited paid sick maternity and parenting leave.
- Relocation grant of $2000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3000 for students moving from outside Australia.
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students who require a student visa to study in Australia
Fee offset scholarships

University of Melbourne McKenzie Postdoctoral Fellowships Program
As one of the scholarship programs made available by the University of Melbourne, this fellowship program is open to postdoctoral students in the school to help them fund their projects.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
The University will fund the Fellowships for a three-year appointment commencing at Level A.6 in the University salary band plus superannuation.
Fellows will receive an additional $25,000 to be spent on project costs over the term of their Fellowship. Awards will be for a maximum of three years commencing on 1st January, but the start date may be deferred up to 30th June.

- Create an account with VTAC
Before you can apply for scholarships, you must create an account with VTAC. See how to create an account here.
2. Log in to your account
To access the scholarship application, you must log in to your account using your VTAC ID and PIN.
3. Open the scholarships application
Select ‘Scholarship application’ in your VTAC user account. All applications through VTAC are submitted online.
4. Enter your personal details
Your account details will be populated to your scholarship application from your VTAC account.
You will be asked questions about your educational studies and personal background, including:
- the highest level of education you have undertaken
- whether you are the first in your immediate family to attend university
- whether you have Australian Indigenous status
- If you will or had to relocate to attend tertiary study
- whether you plan to reside on-campus
- whether you have ever been informal out-of-home care
Additionally, you must:
Complete an impact statement
- Demonstrate how the circumstances impacted your education including the adverse effect on your ability to study or attend school regularly and perform in assessment tasks. The Impact Statement is available as part of your scholarship application.
Obtain a statement of support and ensure it is submitted
- Identify a relevant and responsible person who has knowledge and is able to discuss your circumstances and confirm your opinion of the impact on your education.
5. Provide details of your financial circumstances
You will be asked about:
- your financial circumstances and Centrelink benefits received
- the gross annual income of all persons contributing to your support and amount spent on rent or mortgage payments per week if you are not in receipt of Centrelink
- your marital status, household structure, and a number of children.
Additionally:
If you have a CRN or CAN in your name
Provide your Centrelink Customer Reference Number (CRN) or Customer Access Number (CAN), so that VTAC can obtain your financial details directly from Centrelink.
If you don’t have a CRN or CAN in your name
Provide VTAC with a copy of your parent or guardian’s Centrelink Statement of Benefits (no older than three months) and include your name and relationship on the statement.
If you receive a Family Tax Benefit
If your parent or guardian is in receipt of Family Tax Benefit you must supply a copy of your most recent statement to VTAC with your scholarship cover sheet attached. The evidence must clearly list all the family members and the annual household income.
If you don’t have to receive any Centrelink benefits
If you or your parents or guardian don’t receive any Centrelink benefits, you must
- Complete the impact statement on the scholarship application, and describe your financial hardship, the duration of your financial hardship, how this affected your education and why you are not currently in receipt of Centrelink benefits. The impact statement is available as part of your scholarship application.
- Provide a statement of support and identify a relevant and responsible person who has the knowledge and is able to discuss your situation and comment on the impact of these circumstances on your final years of education.
Permissions
If you do not give VTAC permission to electronically collect information about your Centrelink benefits you must provide a statement of your benefits in hardcopy. Bank statements or screenshots of your Centrelink benefit payments will not constitute proof.
6. Provide details of your personal history and experiences
You will be asked to describe:
- community and leadership experiences
- difficult circumstances that have affected your education
- medical conditions or disabilities that have affected your education
- whether or not you have been a refugee
- how a scholarship will benefit your studies
7. Indicate your course application intentions
You will be asked if you have submitted, or are planning to submit, a course application through VTAC.
If you answer ‘yes’, your scholarship application will be forwarded to any of the listed institutions that are included in your course preference list.
If you are not planning to submit a course application, you will be asked:
- to know if you are currently enrolled or deferred at any institution
- To apply directly to an institution (and not through VTAC)
- if you are planning to apply through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) in NSW
In order to match the course details with your scholarship application:
- if you are currently enrolled or deferred, you will be asked for your student number
- if you are planning to apply through UAC, you will be asked for your UAC number
8. Review and submit your scholarship application
You will be asked to review the information you have provided on your scholarship application. You may then submit your application. A record of your scholarship application will be available to view in the ‘Scholarship application’ section of your VTAC account and also sent to your email address.
9. Access the statement of support
You can either download a PDF form to print or email, or you can generate account logins so that someone can submit a statement of support online from the Scholarships section of your account.
10. Submit any evidence required
