UNISA Extends Registration Deadline For 2024
Unisa has announced that their registration period for the 2024 academic year is once again being extended. This decision is said to have been made after a court case between Unisa and students.
Unisa is officially extending their 2024 registration period.
Registration was initially supposed to close on 11/12 March and then got extended to 26 March but will now be closing on 31 March.
A statement released by the University read as follows:
the university has extended the registration deadline for undergraduate, honours and postgraduate diploma students to Wednesday 31 March 2024 This extension will accommodate those students who only recently received their offers for the 2024 academic year.
Students are encouraged to accept their offers by 29 March.
All registrations and additions, which are received by the closing date of 31 March 2024, will be processed and finalised.
The University does however make it clear that the minimum payment due date remains 31 March 2024
Unisa has also previously said:
the university will ensure that the registration backlog is speedily attended to and that the concerns around financial exclusion are also addressed as best as possible.
Unisa will only have one registration period for this year.
The decision to have one semester and one examination period for the 2024 academic year was made at the beginning of this year. Unisa released a statement which read:
Due to the resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic in South Africa and the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation’s directive that the 2024 academic year will commence in March 2024, Unisa has made the following changes to ensure that all students are able to successfully complete the 2024 academic year … There will be only one registration period for the 2024 academic year … There will be one examination period for the 2024 academic year.
