About Student Housing
There are 34 residence halls in Stellenbosch, with options for mixed-gender, women-only, and men-only arrangements. A resident head oversees each residence with assistance from a House Committee made up of older students.
The House Committee offers support to students through its social, maintenance, and security initiatives.
A be-well mentor is available to every first-year student on campus to help them with the social and emotional transition from high school to university.
Each undergrad house has a washing room, a communal living area, and a dining hall where students can reserve meals in advance on their student accounts.
Due to the limited number of rooms in university homes, some students must obtain private lodging. Six Private Student Organizations (PSO), also referred to as Private Wards, are assigned to students living in private housing.
These PSOs allow private students to experience campus life in a similar way to students living in residences. The Wilgenhof Men’s Residence, built in 1903, is the residence with the most history.
