Important Document You’ll Need to Apply at Rhodes University

Here are important documents or things you’ll need to apply at Rhodes University

  • You’ll need a student number.
  • You’ll need a copy of your official school results.
  • Evidence that your Registration Fee (see “Fees”) has been paid.
  • If you have put money into the university account, a copy of the deposit slip would be useful.
  • A copy of your bursary award letter must have been faxed to the fees of office if you have received one.
  • Final NSC, A level, and IGCSE results for graduates.
  • Students transferring: Your course schedule and transcript from your former institution.
  • Foreign students:
  • By no later than January 21, proof of first fee (IF) clearance.
  • Passport with a current study visa for just Rhodes University.
  • a medical help membership certificate that Consultants, Simeka Health (Pty) Ltd., can verify
  • You won’t be able to enroll until your A-level or IGCSE results are released if they are not yet available at the time of registration.
    Your pre-registration confirmation number, if you pre-registered.

Rhodes University Application Process

  • Please apply online through the Rhodes University Application Portal if you are registering for an Undergraduate OR Postgraduate Program.
  • Kindly click on the one that interests you and continues. e.g. Admission (not yet enrolled at Rhodes)
  • Then, select the mode of program you are enrolling for. You can select Undergraduate Admission, Honours, Master or PhD.
  • Select the year you are applying for and fill in the other required information like your name, date of birth, email address and password, and so forth Then click ‘Submit Online‘ to proceed.
  • They will then email the email address you registered with. Please click on the activation link provided in that email to activate your login details for the online admissions.
  • Kindly enter your username and password to proceed.
  • You will then be required to read and consent to Rhodes University’s terms and conditions before you can continue.
  • They will then take you to the page where you will be required to fill in all the information like your Personal Details, Proposed Registration, Previous Studies, Address Details, Residence Application, and Person Responsible For.
  • When you are done, kindly click on the ‘Submit‘ button to get your application submitted.

Rhodes University Application Fees

All new candidates are expected to submit their applications early in order to be considered for admission to the university. Foreign applicants must meet this deadline in order to be considered.

It is important to note that all candidates must pay an R100 non-refundable application fee with their first admissions applications. Late applications will be taken into account.

After September 30, no applications from international students will be considered.

Tuition Fees (Estimate)

R36 050 to R65 075 (this differs from degree to degree). It Allows around R6 050 for books and stationery.

Note: that these fees shown do NOT include travel expenses or pocket money.

Residence Fees

R68 987 to R72 428 (this includes all meals but excludes vacations). The residence fees also depend on the grade of accommodation chosen.

Tuition Acceptance Fee

This deposit is due on acceptance of an academic place at the University. The fee payable for 2024 is R800. A date stated in the letter of acceptance that was issued to you must pay it.

The deposit is non-refundable and will be lost should the student decide not to register at the University.

Residence Acceptance Fee

Upon acceptance of a place at the University, an R1 000.00 residence deposit must be paid before they allocated a student to a residence.

This deposit is non-refundable and will be forfeited to the University should the student. Cannot register and into a residence for at least one term.
