Assistant Teacher at Cape Town Travelling STEM Clubs Network
Children’s Ages: 8-year-old and 6-year-old daughters. There is another 4 year old child but she has her own teacher. There are also nannies on staff to take care of general childcare.
Working hours: Mon – Fri: 09:00 – 18:00 – Teaching will take place in the mornings, and the afternoons will consist of preparing for the following day’s work and lessons.
Start date: ASAP
Duties:
- Design interdisciplinary, project-based curriculum tailored to the student’s interests and learning style
- Plan, deliver and manage the children’s lessons
- Able to guide learning through projects, problem-solving, and challenges rather than traditional testing.
- Foster curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Encourages students to ask questions and make connections.
- Strong science communicator is able to make STEM subjects accessible and engaging for young learners. Able to design hands-on projects and experiments to bring concepts to life.
- Knowledgeable about resources for hands-on exploration, at-home lab supplies, and educational technology tools and platforms.
- Organize national and international trips for the children that are educationally focused.
- Ensuring all the correct school supplies are at hand when needed
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher
- English speaker (home language)
- Strong experience teaching elementary-level students, with a background in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects.
- Strong academic background, expertise in PYP and IB curriculum, and extensive experience with elementary children
- Comfortable traveling with the family internationally.
- EU, British, or US Passport would be preferable, but the family can work around this for the right candidate
Additional:
- All visas and insurance is organized and paid for by the family
- 6 weeks holiday per year (to be taken at a convenient time to the employer).
- 1 flight home per year
- Independent accommodation included
Salary: 7000 – 10 000 USD per month
