The cost of attending Sacred Heart University varies by program and academic level. Housing, food, and tuition and fees are all considered direct costs.

Sacred Heart Tuition Scholarship

As part of the examination of admission applications, academic scholarships are given consideration for all incoming students (a separate scholarship application is not required).

The Scholarship Review Committee decides which students receive merit scholarships after looking over their high school transcripts and class standing. The evaluation procedure gives a lot of consideration to course choices and overall grade point average.

The evaluation process for merit scholarships is subject to the Test-Optional Admissions Policy of Sacred Heart University.

Candidates may, however, submit their test results to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions if they believe they give additional proof of their academic aptitude and promise.

As long as the student maintains the necessary cumulative GPA stipulated for their specific scholarship, merit scholarships are renewable for four years (eight semesters) of full-time undergraduate education.

Only at the time of admission are merit grants granted. The number shouldn’t be anticipated to rise in the coming years. Limited scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sacred Heart Tuition Work Study

Through part-time employment during the academic year, work-study is a type of federally subsidized financial aid that assists students in covering their educational costs.

This program’s pupils don’t learn while working, contrary to a prevalent belief. Federal law mandates that only wages for hours spent under a work-study program are paid.

Students cannot study while working because the program is intended to offer them work experience.

Sacred Heart Tuition Grant

Federal PELL Grant is for U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens enrolled in undergraduate studies and exhibits financial need.

Amounts are determined by the number of registered credits per semester AND financial need (i.e. half-time, full-time, etc.). The amount awarded is $699 – $6,895/year.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is for U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien engaged in undergraduate studies and demonstrates exceptional financial need. The award amount is $100 – $4,000/year.

Sacred Heart Tuition Loan

Students who have shown they need money above what their financial aid can provide are eligible to borrow through the federal direct loan subsidy program.

While the student is enrolled in school, no principal repayment is necessary because the government will cover all interest costs.

An undergraduate degree program must have students enrolled at least half-time (min. 6 credits). The following are the reward amounts:

  • $3,500- year 1.
  • $4,500- year 2.
  • $5,500- years 3 & 4.
  • $23,000 is the aggregate cap.

The Federal Direct Loan Unsubsidized Program is available to students without a documented financial need. While the borrower is enrolled in school, interest will be paid by the borrower.

Students may, however, decide to postpone payment until after they graduate. An undergraduate degree program must have students enrolled at least half-time (min. 6 credits).

$8,000 is the total cap for dependent students. Maximum Amount for Independent Students: $34,50. Additional funding of $2,000 is available for dependent students.

Independent students are also qualified for an extra:

  • $6,000- years 1 & 2
  • $7,000- years 3 & 4
