Graduation Requirements from High School
Diablo Valley College does not provide a high school diploma. According to California state law, a student must be 18 years old or a high school graduate by the start of their first semester.
Applicants who have completed a U.S. equivalent GED meet the high school graduation equivalence standard for Diablo Valley College’s international student admission.
The minimum age for overseas students to attend DVC is 16. A 16-year-old must be deemed a high school graduate.

Academic Records from Secondary School
1. Study for at least two (2) years in a U.S. high school, earning Cs or above in academic English (not ESL)
2. Final IGCSE or O level grades with a C or better in one of the following subjects: English Language, English as a First Language, or English as a Second Language.
3. Graduation from an international high school where English is the predominant language of instruction. Provide a letter on school letterhead from a school authority declaring that English is the medium of instruction.
4. Completed all upper secondary school years in Sweden or Denmark with an English proficiency level of English 6 (Sweden) or English B (Denmark) (Denmark).
Academic Records from Postsecondary Education (College/University)
Transcripts from US colleges showing one (1) academic year of college level English with C or better marks.
Application Process for DVC Admissions
Diablo Valley College’s overseas student application comprises three steps:
1. Create a CCCApply account and fill out the DVC International Student Application.
It will take approximately 30 minutes to create a CCCApply account and complete the Diablo Valley College international student application.
Following the creation of an account, they will take you to the DVC International Student Application.

2. Pay the application cost of $50.
Within 24 to 48 hours of completing the online application, you will receive a Welcome Email with your Insite login and password.
To pay your application cost, you must connect to your InSite account using your InSite credentials. Please connect to your InSite account here after getting your InSite username and password, then click the PAYMENT tile on your InSite homepage.
They will not process your application until you pay the application fee. Please see the application cost guidelines by clicking here.
3. Please email the following materials to intlapp@dvc.edu.
- A duplicate of your passport
- Evidence of English proficiency
- Financial documentation: (a bank statement showing at least $25,904)
- Bank statements must include the following information:
i. Date
ii. The account balance
iii. Translation into English
iv. Name of the account holder (name of financial sponsor)
v. Bank name and physical address
vi. Assets that are liquid
Note: If you are a scholarship recipient, please also include a signed copy of your scholarship letter from your scholarship provider on official letterhead, which specifies your name and the exact amount of scholarship funds you have been given.

Is DVC a 4 Year College?
Diablo Valley College is a two-year institution. A two-year college offers programs leading to a Certificate or an Associate’s Degree.
Some students elect to transfer to a four-year after attending a two-year to finish their bachelor’s degree.
Is Diablo Valley College Free?
Students who enroll in the fall are eligible for up to four consecutive primary terms of free tuition.
Students who enroll in the spring can get up to three consecutive primary terms of free tuition. Summer is not part of the FT3 program.
