The types of rice vary just as different ways of cooking it. It is very essential to rinse your rice no matter how you’re cooking it or which type you are using. Washing the starch away prevents your rice from giving you an unpleasant result. The simplest process to rinse your rice is by using a fine-mesh strainer, but some people will tell you to place the rice in a bowl and change the water severally.
In this article, we will show you how to cook a perfect rice
1. pour the water into the pot
Fill the pot approximately ⅓ full with water for 6 portions.
2. Add the rice
Pour the rice into the centre of the boiling water. Keep pouring it until the rice is above the water ️
3. Stir & add the lid
After you have added your rice into the boiling, stir it slightly and place a lid on the pot.
4. Turn the temperature down
Turn down the temperature instantly. For gas, cook at the very lowest temperature. For electric or induction, it may need to be a little higher depending on your electric/induction hob.
5. Let it simmer
Allow the rice to cook for 20 minutes. This will make the rice to cook evenly without burning at the bottom.
Do not open the lid. The rice should be ready after 20 minutes of cooking. If the rice is still a little hard and there is no water left at the bottom of the pot, just add in a bit of boiling water and cover it back again. You do not need to worry about overcooking the rice far there isn’t too much water inside it. If the heat is low, the rice can take some additional cooking.
