4. Submit your Lawful Presence Document to the Admissions Office

Each University System of Georgia institution is needed to verify the lawful presence in the United States of every student applying for in-state tuition.

Only those students verified to be lawfully present in the United States and meet Georgia domicile requirements per Policy 4.3.2, may be classified as in-state.

Therefore, methods for verifying lawful presence are listed below. Students may provide a copy of one of the following:

  • A Certified U.S. Birth Certificate showing the student was born in the U.S. or a U.S. territory. A photocopy is not acceptable. The original document must be presented and a copy will be made in the Office of Enrollment Services.
  • A U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or N-570).
  • A U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS form N-560 or N-561).
  • A U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (DS-1350) or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240).
  • A current U.S. Passport.
  • A current Driver’s License issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • A current ID issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • A current military ID (service member only, not dependent) is documented using the Confirmation of Review of Military ID Worksheet. A photocopy is not acceptable.
  • A current, valid Permanent Resident Card (USCIS form I-151 or I-551

Atlanta Metropolitan State College Requirements

1. Minimum GPA: The minimum GPA for transfer is 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

2. Official Transcripts: The submission of official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions previously attended is required. You must submit your official high school transcript as well.

3. SAT Scores: If you have less than 30 hours of transfer credit, submit your official SAT/ACT scores. This is not required, but they may help determine an exemption from taking the COMPASS Placement Exam or the Regents Exam.

4. Application Fee: There is a non-refundable $20 application fee.

5. Minimum Grade: Atlanta Metropolitan College accepts transfer credits from other colleges and universities with a course grade of “C” or better that satisfies curricular requirements.

6. Credits (Min/Max): A maximum of forty-five (45) semester hours of academic credit may be transferred to Atlanta Metropolitan College. However, all students must complete at least twenty (20) semester hours of their required coursework at Atlanta Metropolitan College.
