About Northwest University 

The North-West University is a public university in South Africa with three campuses.NWU was formed in 2004 by the merger of three other universities’ campuses: the University of North-West, Potchefstroom University, and Vista University.

With the merger, North-West University became one of South Africa’s largest, with approximately 64,000 students enrolled in 2010. NWU’s mission is to educate “well-rounded graduates who can think laterally and critically in their service to the country and its people.

Its motive is also to conduct research “supplying innovative solutions to challenges faced by the scholarly community, the country, the continent, and the world.”

How to Apply Online to Northwest University

  • Get a student number (Go to step 2 if you already have one)
  • Go to the new online application platform
  • Click on ‘New application’
  • Click on ‘Create new student number’ and complete all the fields
  • Log in
  • Choose what you want to study
  • Upload supporting documents

Grade 12 results (only June or final results, March results will not be considered), grade 11 results (final results only), or a copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.

A direct bank deposit or electronic payment can be made into any of the North-West University’s bank accounts as listed below and only the 8-digit university number will be accepted as a reference, please use the letter A for Application Fees & Residence Deposits.
