The Fees documents listed below are based on the originally intended delivery of programs for the year. For 2023 Winter term students, fully online and regional campus students will not pay for London on-campus services and the FSU/LTC bus pass. For blended or hybrid program delivery, students at the London Campuses will receive and pay for on campus service delivery, which includes the FSU/LTC bus pass. Our Wellness Centre and recreation fees are suspended for Winter 2023. Student invoices for Winter 2023 have been adjusted to reflect these differences in fees.

Tuition and fee policy you actually need to know

Students must register and pay the required fee(s) for each term in which they expect to receive academic credit or to use College resources. This includes terms which consist of clinical experience or field placement activities.

Fees, which are subject to change without notice, must be paid by the deadline date specified by the Office of the Registrar.

Fees: breaking it down

Total fees due per term: a combination of tuition fees, ancillary fees, program specific fees and co-op fees (if applicable).

Types of fees:

  • Ancillary fees are fees which students pay in addition to tuition fees and are established following the guidelines of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
  • Program specific fees are fees students are required to pay in addition to tuition and ancillary fees and are specific to the program/level.
  • Co-operative education fees are payable by students registered in Co-operative Education programs. The Co-operative Education fee pays for the services of co-operative education consultants who provide co-op students with assistance to meet the requirements for a co-op endorsed diploma. These include registration and record keeping services, additional classes for co-op students, resume preparation and job search advice, posting of co-op positions, interview assistance, and follow-up/evaluation of work semesters.
  • General Expenses are program related expenses that a student can be expected to pay in addition to Tuition amounts. These expenses are not included in the Fee Invoice. Examples of General Expenses would include textbooks, expendable supplies, uniforms and minor equipment and professional association exam fees.

Reporting tuition on your student permit extension

When you apply for a student permit extension, you may need to include evidence of your upcoming tuition costs. Calculate your tuition estimate for one term with 15 credits, print the page and include it with your permit extension application.

When you indicate the tuition amount on your permit extension application, multiply the estimate by two so that it covers both fall and winter terms.

Cost of living

As well as tuition and fees, you need to plan for the day-to-day costs of a student living away from home, such as food, accommodation and socializing. Print the cost-of-living table and include it with your study permit application.

Immigration Status Change

If you receive Permanent Resident, Protected Person, or Convention Refugee status in Canada, tuition and fees will be assessed at the domestic rate beginning in the term the change in immigration status takes effect. If notification and the applicable supporting documentation is received by the OUR by the Last day to add or drop Regular Session classes, the change takes effect in the current academic term. Any notification, including the submission of supporting documentation, received after the Last day to add or drop Regular Session classes will result in the change taking effect in the next academic term.

Refugees or Protected Persons

If the IRB has accepted your claim and you have Convention Refugee or Protected Person status, submit your Notice of Decision to the OUR. Convention Refugees or Protected Persons who do not have Permanent Residence status must consult with a regulated immigration advisor at MacEwan International before applying to the university to discuss study permit requirements while awaiting a decision on their Permanent Residence status application.

Refugee or Protected Person claimants

Refugee or Protected Person claimants whose Notice of Decision is pending are deemed to be an international student when enrolled at the university and are subject to all policies and regulations applicable to international students. This includes the assessment of tuition and fees which are assessed at the international tuition rate. Most Refugee and Protected Person claimants require a study permit to pursue post-secondary studies. Consult a regulated immigration advisor at MacEwan International to discuss your study permit requirements.
