General Nursing Programme Admission Requirements for Candidates into the General Nursing Programme of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria

1. General nursing programme admission requirements candidates for admission into the general nursing programme of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Candidate must possess the senior secondary school certificate or its equivalent with five credits to include English language and either physics, chemistry, biology/health science at not more than two sittings.

2. Post basic midwifery programme admission requirements: the candidate must be a registered nurse, and have five o, level credits not more than two sittings.

What’s the Difference Between Basic Nursing and Post-Basic Nursing?

The basic nursing programme is 3 years while the POST-BASIC Nursing programme is 18 months. BASIC Nursing programme is for Secondary School leavers with at least 5 credits including English Language.

Also, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics while the POST-BASIC Nursing programme is for Registered Midwives.

Is it Better to Study Nursing in a University or a School of Nursing?

It depends on your specific situation and goals. Generally, studying nursing at a university is more likely to be more comprehensive and allow for more career options later on.

Does Midwifery Require Jamb?

Only ND Nursing is through JAMB for now. Sale of application forms, entrance exam, and interview for Basic Nursing, Basic Midwifery, Community Midwifery Community Nursing, Post Basic Nursing, Post Basic Midwifery.

Refresher Basic Nursing and Refresher Basic Midwifery programmes will be done entirely by the College.
