The University of Johannesburg online Application and Closing Date

Applications open on April 1st of the year preceding the intended study year and close on September 28th, 2018 at noon.

You can apply online at www.uj.ac.za by following a link to study @UJ, or you can download the application form and submit it to the Student Enrolment Centre or mail it to the University.

Online applicants are not required to pay an application fee, whereas hardcopy applicants must pay an R200 non-refundable application fee.

Please be advised that all applicants should not send cash through the mail or leave documents and cash with any unauthorized persons.

Admission for international applicants is contingent on meeting the compliance requirements outlined in the Immigration Act No. 13 of 2002, its accompanying regulations, and the University’s policy.

4. Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)

5. Provide proof of a non –  refundable Application Fee of R200.00

Where English was not used as a medium of learning and teaching, provide proof of English proficiency.

The University prefers the applicant to take the IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programs.

You can also take the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP).

If an international applicant’s first and second choices are both unsuccessful, the International Admissions Office will offer an alternative option if they meet the requirements.

Submit completed application form on-campus residence when required

Applicants who are currently attending or have previously attended a university within or outside the Republic of South Africa must submit an academic transcript covering the period of study, particularly if they intend to be granted an exemption from modules or courses at the university.

Applicants must have a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement to study for a South African degree.

For admission to undergraduate studies, all international applicants with high school qualifications got outside of the Republic of South Africa must get a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa.

The Matriculation Board must receive the following supporting documents at the address listed below;

1. Form M30 (this form can be downloaded on the Matriculation Board website www. he-enroll.ac.za)

2. Correctly certified copies of the applicant’s educational qualifications certified by a South African High Commission, Consulate, Trade Mission, or a Public Notary in your home country

3. A correctly certified copy of your passport or birth certificate certified by a South African High Commission, Consulate, Trade Mission, or a Public Notary in your home country

4. Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)

5. Exemption fee as determined by the Matriculation Board ( see website www. he-enroll.ac.za)

Applicants from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Congo Brazzaville must apply directly to the Matriculation Board for Matriculation Exemption.

Please send all properly certified copies by mail if applying by hardcopy or by e-mail if applying online.

Admission to the University faculties is based on a different APS (Admission Points System).

Applicants must include a copy of their school leaving results and/or academic record if they have previously studied at the university when applying to the university.

If you want to apply for Certificates or Diploma qualifications, you can do so without an Exemption Application or Certificate.

To calculate your APS, you’ll need to add your six best subjects, excluding Life Orientation.
