SA University Application Open Dates for 2024
1. Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
Did you know that Nelson Mandela University (NMU) has begun accepting applications for the class of 2024? The institution is one of the highly sought-after education facilities in South Africa.
The application process for the 2024 intake of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Nelson Mandela University opened in April 2024. Prospectus students are encouraged to apply online and submit all supporting documents online by the deadlines:
- June 30, 2024 – MBChB applications with the NBT (if applicable) are to be written by no later than July 31, 2024.
- 30th June 2024 – Bachelor of Radiography (BRad) applications.
- August 4, 2024 – Early applications (excluding Maibach & BRad).
- 30 September 2024 – Late applications (excluding MBChB & BRad).
- September 30, 2024 – International student applications.
- September 30, 2024 – ALL student housing applications.
2. Unisa
Unisa opened university applications for 2024 on September 1 and will close applications on November 14, 2024. The University of South Africa offers a variety of qualifications, and applications for undergraduate and postgraduate diploma qualifications are now open.
Those who wish to enroll in undergraduate courses should take note of the following dates.
- August 11 to October 15, 2024 – Unisa Undergraduate qualifications, i.e. (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees).
- August 11 to October 15, 2024 – Unisa Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas dates.
- September 8 to November 12, 2024 – Unisa Master’s & doctoral qualifications dates.
- They advised postgraduate applicants to consult the relevant college because dates vary across Colleges and Schools.
3. Rhodes University
Applications are currently being accepted. Students can apply for courses until November 30, 2024. They are, however, encouraged to apply as soon as possible because certain degrees have a limited number of available spots.

4. University of Fort Hare (UFH)
UFH 2024 application cycle is active. The application open date was April 1, 2024. The deadline for the application for this institution will be as follows:
- Application closing date – November 30, 2024
5. North-West University (NWU)
The North-West University application process 2024 is open for study admission to the institution beginning April 1, 2024. Here are the closing dates for submission of applications for the next academic year: Prospective students interested in attending NWU can begin processing their enrollment applications.
- August 31, 2024 – Non-selection courses, Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, Graphic Design, Urban and Regional planning
- June 30, 2024 – Pharmacy and all other selection courses

6. Tshwane University of Technology
The university has opened its applications for the 2024 academic year. More than 400 career options are offered at the university, which attracts more than 60 000 students annually.
7. Wits University
Applications are currently open and will close on 30 June 2024 for the Faculty of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Audiology, Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology, and BA in Film and TV.
Applications for the rest of the programs will close on 30 September 2024.
8. The University of Limpopo
Online applications for the 2024 academic year are currently open. MBChB programs’ applications are set to close on 29 July 2024. The rest of the applications will close on 30 September 2024.

9. University of the Free State (UFS)
The application process is now open. Free State University application opening dates are:
- May 31, 2024 – MB ChB, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Physiotherapy, and Radiation Sciences.
- July 31, 2024 – Architecture, Biokinetics, Dietetics, Nursing, Social Work, and Sports Coaching.
- August 31, 2024 – Students who are transferring from other tertiary institutions and all non-selection programs, All Access Programmes on the South Campus and the sub-regions, International undergraduate applications, All non-selection programs, Community Development (Qwaqwa Campus only), Construction Economics and Management (Full-time), and Construction Management (Compact Learning).
- September 30, 2024 – Drama and Theatre Arts, Geology, Forensic Sciences, Actuarial Science, Fine Arts, Physics with Engineering Sciences, and Music.
10. University of Johannesburg (UJ)
- April 1, 2024. The closing date is September 30, 2024.
- The University of Johannesburg applications for the 2024 academic year are received from April 1, 2024.
- The closing date is September 30, 2024.
11. University of the Western Cape (UWC)
The applications for 2024 for the 2024 academic year are already open. The UWC application forms are expected to be submitted before September 30, 2024. All required documents should be submitted as well.
