More Information on SRD Grant Eligibility

SASSA began paying out grants to successful recipients on August 25, 2024.

SASSA recently issued a statement confirming that 5.8 million applicants have been paid since that time.

Around 1.5 million of these applicants received their grants via cardless ATM payment.

However, there have been some delays, and those who chose this payment method have yet to receive their funds.

SASSA CEO Busisiwe Memela-Khambula explained that they are working with the National Treasury to resolve this.

“As soon as Treasury approves our request, we will pay every penny owed to this group of beneficiaries without delay.”

We sympathize with them, but we also have a legal obligation to follow the law.”

We have advised applicants who have yet to receive confirmation about the status of their application to wait for an SMS informing them that their payment is ready.
