How to Track/Check/Submit SMU Application Status 2024

Sefako Makgatho University was established when Dr. Blade Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education and Training, promoted the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) in the SA Government Gazette no: 37658 on May 16, 2014. They promise to provide health sciences education that is relevant to the needs of the South African people.

How To Track/Check Sefako Makgatho

After applying, you must follow these steps to check or track your Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University SMU application status.

1. Go to the SMU status checker portal – https://www.smu.ac.za/en/students/apply/
2. Select and Enter your ID Number/Passport number
3. Click Sign In by clicking SUBMIT button
4. Then click the “Login” button to access your admission status.

Congratulations if your name is among the successful candidates in the admission lists of the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University SMU.

How to Submit Your Sefako Makgatho University Application

Here are two ways that you can choose from when applying:

1. Online Application

• click on the university’s website
• you’ll be asked if you already have a student number, click ‘yes’ if you already have one if not, click on ‘no’
• fill in all of your details that are required
• upload documents
• submit application

2. Manual Application

• Complete an application form in full and answer all questions with black ink
• Specify the names of the first choice and second choice degrees (if applicable)
• Complete the residence section (if applicable)
• Pay the non-refundable application fee of R200.00
• Submit the application form and proof of payment to the university’s postal address

If you do not submit the required documentation within two months, your application will be rejected. Meeting admissions requirements, according to the university, does not guarantee admission to selected qualifications and residence.

If you are not admitted to this university, you may want to look into bridging courses that will help you get into the healthcare field.

SMU General Admission Regulations:

1. Applications should be submitted online.
2. Consent Is required to process personal Information:
3. They should complete accurately the application fully.
4. The names should be the same as they appear in your identity/passport document.
5. You are allowed to apply for only two study choices.
6. The residence section should only be completed if you wish to stay in the University residence.
7. You should pay the non-refundable application fee of R200.00. Use your student/ID number as a reference when making payment.
