The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) welcomed the changes, noting that the new regulations could increase the number of people receiving the grant to around 10 million.

Anyone interested in receiving the grant must first apply on the SRD grant website. Applicants will check their SRD grant status once Sassa has reviewed their application.

Possible Reason For Identity Verification Failed Status

During the verification process, one thing SASSA does is cross-check the applicant’s personal details with those found at Home Affairs. If there are any changes or minor errors in the name, the system will show it, resulting in a decline as failed identity verification.

  • Mismatched information
  • Omission of some letter or letters of the name. Note that even one letter can lead to this conclusion. Note that, it a computer program that is doing the checking, therefore it must match exactly what is the database.

Complete a few steps if you received this rejection message. You must first correct your name and surname on the SRD website https://srd.sassa.gov.za , under the tab: Request Names and Surname Update.

Once you’ve updated your name and surname, you can submit a request for reconsideration via the website. Visit the SRD Website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za

  • Step 1: Find the ‘Application for Reconsideration’ tab.
  • Step 2: Click on where it says ‘click here to apply for reconsideration.
  • Step 3: they will ask you to provide your ID number and Mobile number.
  • Step 4: Follow the prompts to complete the reconsideration of your payment.
  • It’s important to note that they must lodge the appeal on the Sassa website within 30 days of when they received a rejection status. You must also submit an appeal for every rejected month.
