About Rustenburg Girls High SchoolÂ
Two distinct public institutions with a shared history, Rustenburg Girls’ High School and Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School are located in the Rondebosch neighborhood of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. Rustenburg was established in 1894, and in 1932 it was split into junior and senior high schools. A variety of cultural clubs and activities are available at the school.
In the historic Rustenburg House, which was built during the first years of the Dutch settlement at the Cape, the school was established in 1894. The High School moved into its new buildings on Erinville Estate and Charlie’s Hope after the school was split into two in 1932, while the Junior School remained in Rustenburg House on Main Road.
Then, in 1976, Charlie’s Hope was destroyed and then rebuilt closer to the school. The boarding home at the High School is today known as Erinville. In 1941, Rustenburg House received the designation of National Monument.
