About the Naspers Bursary
Naspers is inviting students to apply for bursaries for the academic year 2024. The Naspers Bursary Programme aims to fund young black Africans who are academically qualified but lack the financial resources to further their education.
From first-year to Honours level studies, funding is available.
The List of Fields of Study
Bursaries will be awarded to current and prospective students, for studies within the following fields:
- Business Sciences
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Mathematics
- Science
- Technology
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be a Black African – Female or Male
- You must be currently in Matric OR you must have completed Matric
- You must study OR intend on studying towards a qualification in STEM, Commerce, or Business Sciences field
- You must study OR intend on studying at a recognized university in South Africa
- You must have a total household income of less than R650 000 per annum
Matric students applying for the 1st year:
- You must have achieved a minimum result of 60% for Mathematics (NOT Mathematical Literacy) in Grade 11 final results
- You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in Grade 11 final results
- You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in the Matric June exams
1st-year students applying for 2nd year:
- You must study full time
- You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in the June exams
- You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in the final results
3rd-year Students applying for Honours degrees:
- You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 68% in June/mid-year results
- You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 68% in the final results
- You must be on track for acceptance

How to Apply
If you satisfy all the conditions, move forward with the application process. It’s a totally online process. First, visit the Xhuma Portal and create an account. Naspers uses this platform to manage applications, and that’s how it will track yours.
Complete your profile by providing your personal and academic information. You’d also have to attach your latest academic results. Once the account is set up, select the funder, which is Naspers.
Naspers Bursary Conditions
The bursary will provide full funding, for the entire duration of the degree studies The following expenses will be covered:
- Tuition fees,
- Prescribed textbooks,
- Accommodation,
- Living allowance,
- Meals.
- 1st-year students will also receive a laptop computer.
More Information on the Conditions
Students will also have unrestricted access to academic and psycho-social support, such as mentorship programs, career counseling and readiness training, monthly workshops, and monthly counseling sessions.
They will expect Naspers bursary recipients to actively support the local community or charity organizations and give back in any way they can, all in the name of creating a better future for themselves and their communities.
