Jackson’s family planned for a second autopsy, which may produce quick but constrained results. The preliminary autopsy revealed no signs of trauma or foul play, according to Craig Harvey, the coroner’s office’s chief investigator.

Drug-use allegations

Jackson used propofol, alprazolam, and sertraline, according to Marc Schaffel (an antidepressant). Omeprazole, hydrocodone, paroxetine, carisoprodol, and hydromorphone were some of the additional medications.

Police discovered propofol among other medications in his residence after he passed away. Some of these medications were unlabeled, while others had labels that were falsely named.

Jackson was reportedly consuming up to 40 alprazolam tablets every night, according to a 2004 police report created for the 2005 People v. Jackson child abuse trial.

Propofol

Investigators were especially concerned about propofol (Diprivan), a potent anesthetic used intravenously in hospitals to induce and maintain anesthesia during surgery, of all the medications discovered in Jackson’s residence.

The drug has been linked to cardiac arrest and is known as “milk of amnesia” because of its opaque, milk-like appearance (and as a play on the words “milk of magnesia”).

Despite this, it may still be used increasingly off-label for anxiolytic and other medically unsupported purposes. In Jackson’s house, several propofol bottles some empty, some full were discovered.
