Assistant Teacher Preprimary School Principal FVT HR Consulting Cape Town

Our client is currently seeking a well-rounded Preprimary School Principal who will have the exciting opportunity to oversee the management of the school, and staff and oversee the pastoral care of the staff, children, and their parents. Reporting directly to the Board, the Principal will be responsible for providing leadership to ensure that the school is managed satisfactorily and in compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and personnel administration measures. The successful candidate would need to be a dedicated, hardworking, and conscientious individual. The school is seeking an individual who sees education as a calling and not only as a job, and who can unleash the potential that is situated in every learner, staff member, and parent involved at the school, and take the school to the next level. To commence duty in January 2024.Inherent Requirements

  • A Bachelors’ Degree and a valid SACE registration Certificate
  • A postgraduate qualification in education management and leadership is preferable
  • Valid police clearance certificate.
  • At least 10 years of proven experience in Educational Management in a similar Preprimary School environment, specifically ages 2,5 to 5,5 years.
  • Independent school experience is preferable.
  • An understanding of the legislation relevant to education in South Africa.
  • Digital citizenship – have a broad understanding and experience with Technology and IT integration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in managing and building strong relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents, past pupils, and the wider community.
  • Excellent communication skills to develop a productive educational experience for both teachers and students.
  • Problem-solving skills to enhance teacher performance and improve student grades.
  • A track record of effective staff management and the ability to develop and mentor staff.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).

Board LiaisonRoles and responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Liaising with the Board in terms of matters arising with staff and parents
  • Uphold the vision and mission of the Board
  • Prepare Principal reports
  • Attend Board meetings
  • Financial authorization of bank payments and credit card management

Management Of School

  • Managing the day-to-day operational requirements to consistently provide a well-presented, professional, maintained, and fully functional school.
  • Strive to keep the school “en trend” and marketable
  • Oversee all of the required code of conduct, rules, and regulations of the school management are adhered to.
  • Oversee all requirements of ISASA are adhered to which include but is not limited to attending meetings, completing annual surveys, and hosting the Regional director as well as maintaining membership and preparation for 5-year accreditation
  • Oversee all the requirements of WCED are met to ensure the school meets the registration requirements of the d This will include the necessary data input in CEMIS (and qualifies for the subsidy) remove this

Management Of Staff

  • Oversee all staff, presently there are 10 full-time employees and 1 fixed Locum teacher
  • Oversee the co-curricular service providers of which there are 2 (Music and Movement classes)
  • Oversee the extramural providers of which there are 4
  • Oversee the required school rules and regulations of the school are adhered to.
  • Initiate annual and term planning of school events for the children, staff, and parents (outings, fun days, celebrations, etc.)
  • Monitor teacher’s weekly and termly planning to ensure this meets the curriculum requirements.
  • Ensure staff are identifying and addressing their children’s developmental needs and I attend multi-disciplinary style meetings with the teacher and parents
  • Ensure Bi-annual reports signed by myself and the respective teacher are professional
  • Chair weekly staff meetings (Tuesdays)
  • Ensure the Code of Conduct is upheld by each staff member
  • Maintain up-to-date communication with the Vice Principal and all staff on school-related matters
  • Pastoral care of staff
  • Staff Development
  • Motivate staff to meet the CPTD requirements

Administration And Annual Intake

  • Ensure efficient and effective annual intake procedure to ensure sufficient intake numbers
  • Monitoring of acceptances and intakes
  • Monitoring any termly withdrawals

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

  • Meeting with the Chairperson and sub-committees of the PTA
  • Attend termly meetings with teachers
  • Assist and support the PTA’s functions held within the school
  • Proof/endorse all communications between the PTA and the parent body

Other Administrative/ad-hoc

  • Newsletter distributions (per term)
  • Draft and distribution of correspondence with parents
  • Weekly Social media approval
  • Join the local pre-primary Heads group and attend termly meetings

Involvement outside official school hours, as and when required, for events planned to enhance the school offering including cultural, sports, outdoor education, parent meetings, and community events.
